The Coffee Gallery - Haleiwa, Hawaii

Spending the day in Haleiwa is one of my favorite things to do while visiting Hawaii. It is a small town on the northern shore of Hawaii packed with quaint shops, delicious cafes, and world famous surf spots right around the corner. You are also a stones throw from pineapple fields and coffee plantations. Did you know that Hawaii is the only state that grows and roasts its own coffee? There are 6,500 acres of coffee producing land within the state which amounts to 6 to 7 million pounds of green bean. You can find locally grown coffee all over Hawaii with each island having its own unique bean. Kona coffee is probably the most well known and originates on the big island of Hawaii. There is a great little coffee shop nestled in the heart of Haleiwa called The Coffee Galleryand this cafe premiers coffee from all the islands. This cafe has been open since 1987. They roast beans daily from fields right around the corner- talk about local! The process they use is called "small batch roasting" where they only roast what they need to maximize freshness with the bean's individual flavor. If you ever get the chance to visit Haleiwa, a cup of coffee at The Coffee Gallery is a must!
